i’m kim dinell and i’m addicted to teaching people how to swim better.

so, what’s “better” mean? does it mean faster, with more ease and grace, or farther? truth is, it means all of those things. Total Immersion, the method i teach, is dedicated to helping all swimmers swim more efficiently. once you’re more efficient in the water, you’ll find that you ARE faster, more graceful, can go farther, and all those other lovely things.

the reason i characterize my love of teaching as an “addiction” is that i can’t watch people struggle in the water without wanting to get in with them and show them some tips to minimize their frustration. reacting in this manner can get you some funny looks–especially if you do it fully clothed.

naaaah–i haven’t actually done that. but it would be fun to see how the swimmer would react.

i read recently that in Alcoholics Anonymous they use the saying, “Just because something is simple, it doesn’t mean it’s EASY.” i love that! isn’t that true of most things? if you can get some perspective, some clarity about what you’re trying to accomplish, usually the steps toward it are pretty clear. the big bug-a-boo, however, is figuring how to find and KEEP the motivation to continue moving toward your goal.

i can tell you that efficient swimming can be accomplished through some SIMPLE changes in your approach to the water. better yet, i will hang in there with you when progress is not EASYdinell-pic-for-website,  and you feel like you’re never going to “get it.”

it’s what i do. it’s what i love. find out more about me in the category “Kim’s TI Story” on this blog, or contact me at kimswimflorida@ gmail.com.
