About Gogglemarks
Why Gogglemarks? Because gogglemarks–those unavoidable, hard-to-explain grooves your swim goggles imprint around your eyes–are an inevitable PART OF LIFE. (Like so many things, right?)
Ironic, isn’t it? Swimming, arguably one of the best forms of exercise available, causes gogglemarks–a rather unsightly and (blessedly) temporary condition. To me, they’re a perfect example of the fact that, while you’re engaged in activity that you KNOW benefits your health, you’ll sometimes encounter side effects you didn’t count on.
No way around it. Doesn’t have to be the end of the world.
I choose to embrace it. If you hang around a while, you’ll learn that I embrace a lot of things. I embrace the challenge of defying the odds and staying young-at-heart and young-in-body. I embrace the reality that, if I truly value my independence, I must do the work to stay strong and healthy. I embrace chocolate-chip scones–but not daily.
I teach adults to swim because I love it, and I thoroughly enjoy sharing the love. I can’t resist writing about and commenting on all kinds of anti-aging strategies, though–so if you’re not a swimmer, you’ll still find plenty of thought-provoking stuff at Gogglemarks. Welcome!

Great blog, Kim! Thanks again to you for the swim coaching in 2008…the times spent in the water learning from you to swim like a sleek fish were the some of the most enjoyable I’ve ever had. You are a wonderful teacher — with a wicked sense of humor — and I greatly value you now as a friend. I wish you much success with this blog…and encourage readers to subscribe and to comment.
